I believe the November ratings book is well along. What's happening? Anybody have any partial returns? Just curious. Thanks

Nothing for newscasts. I saw an ad this week noting a 244% increase for Wheel of Fortune (a 31 sweep high) and a 196% increase for Jeopardy! (a 34 sweep high). The switch to WBZ and three weeks of Boston episodes have proven quite effective.

it appears 25's 6 o'clock is not faring well against the known commodities of the big three. why didn't they do a 6:30 local news to get better ratings while 4, 5 and 7 are doing national news? it has proven successful in the morning for them, from 7-9am.

So when 7 says they are your news station they could probably name specifically "Jeff, we are your news station"

Given 7's fall in the ratings who gets the blame? or shoud I ask who gets thrown out/demoted/reassigned?

I find it absolutely laughable that they can't let go of the Leno thing. I know it's been hashed over and over, if you want to watch a specific newscast, you'll make the effort to grab your clicker and changed the channel. Hey "news station", face the facts, your product sucks! It's nobody's fault but your own. In their defense though, if I wanted to go watch some 'graphics bizarre', I'd be the first one there. But that ain't happening anytime soon. Lastly, I'm even suprised they're ahead of Fox in the 6 and 11. So I guess they still have a bit to fall before bottoming out.

Leno may have poor nationwide #'s but for 7 to blame him for their ratings is, I agree, incorrect. If you have a quality product I will switch and watch it... wonder how many people watch Leno and then switch to a better newscast... will be interesting to see Lenos #s compared to 7's 11 pm news--how many make that switch??

Hey "news station", face the facts, your product sucks! It's nobody's fault but your own. Two thoughts... 1.) When few people had remote "clickers" I can see the importance of the lead-in programming. However, nowadays, does anyone watch TV without a remote? I would think people go where they want nowadays. (yes, I grew up when you had to get up and walk across the room to change the channel.) 2.) I am not a fan of Ch 7's product, but in fairness to them, havebn't they always had the same "product".....even when they were top of the ratings? I find it hard to say "your product sucks"...when the same product made them king of the hill.

I'll be honest, I hated their product then and I despise it now. At least in years past they had proven talent that could carry their awkward delivery style. That's what kept them at the top, their ALL gone now. Now all you see is a constantly changing carousel of young 20 somethings that project a terrible product. Along with a light show of glitz and glamor that would make Pixar proud! As many have said, its closer to ET/Insider then an actual informative local newscast. I say put TMZ on in place of every news slot they have now. they'd get better ratings! Then they can stop blaming Leno for their failure. No reason not to call a spade a spade in this instance.

I would add that beyond any of their on air personnel now or then, I think you can chart the decline of 7(and not just at 11, but more importantly at 5 and 6 since those are not lead-in driven programs) directly to the decline of content on that station. If you have watched them closely for years or know anyone who has worked there for a while, they can tell you how much less they do when it comes to things that are important. But even worse, they've never evolved from the time when all of the random "nothings" from every where else which they put in those programs were a bit more novel. Not only is that stuff not novel anymore, it is distractingly annoying. If you combine all that with the very dated concept of the giant cartoon graphics of mind numbing alliteration, you've got a recipe for what has occurred with their numbers.
5 may be the overall ratings king in Boston, but there was a time when 7 was winning at 11 AND 6, AND Natalie Jacobson was the competitor! I can guarantee you 7 was a different "product" back then.
