2.) I am not a fan of Ch 7's product, but in fairness to them, havebn't they always had the same "product".....even when they were top of the ratings? I find it hard to say "your product sucks"...when the same product made them king of the hill.
I'm going to respectfully disagree.
I'm sorry but what you see now is 10x worse then before. I'll be honest, I hated their product then and I despise it now.
I guess since I am not a fan of 7, nor a regular watcher over the years, I didn't realize it had gotten so much worse.
But I think you are seeing the battle of the programming philosophies. While 4 & 5 have worked to beef up their news programs, 7 has done so by doing what it is known for.
7 believed that anchors were interchangabele, and couldn't believe that randy attracted any viewers by his presense.
They also thought that graphics, and production draw more people than content...so they gave us more.
Maybe it's time for them to change the philosophy, and realize that Boston isn't Miami. (That's where their other station is, right?)
I think the difference is dramatic at 10PM. I used to alternate from the 7/56 newscast & the Fox25 newscast.
The first segment of Fox25 news at 10 is all local stuff. Things in my backyard, and things people are talking about. The first segment of the 7/56 news at 10PM seems to consist of whatever they think is flashy enough (without any effort to be local)...Fire in the midwest, shootout in denver, tiger woods, etc.
Ch 25 has a political reporter that seems to have some credibility and understanding whats going on in Boston politically and at the state house. (Heck, the opening graphic IS the State House!).
I think the Fox 25 'cast is well put together and has a nice attitude/feel about it...probably due to Stephanos. But they all seem to report the news and have great personalities that exude and come out of the TV at you.
At least in years past they had proven talent that could carry their awkward delivery style. That's what kept them at the top, their ALL gone now.
Now all you see is a constantly changing carousel of young 20 somethings that project a terrible product.
Besides Randy, who else are you referring to?
