It just seems too obvious to me.
Harding has the talents that flourish on AM shows: great ad-libber, bubbly personality, go-with-the-flow talent. I thought he really made his mark in the AM. I think he's only an average PM anchor. He's a double shot of caffeine --when regular, or occasional de-caf is preferred for me. Converted sports guys are made-for-AM Anchor if they switch to News. Harding and Lavanchy are Textbook examples.
Price-- I know its early in his tenure-- but I think he's a comfortable regular coffee/border line de-caf when I WANT that double-shot. I like his relaxed, cool, more cerebral style in the PM. He's OK in the AM --but this is not his forte. I don't think he brings a lot to the AM Anchor Chair...but he's the best in the Market on the Evening Anchor desk.
WCVB has the best evening anchor in the market--doing mornings,
WCVB has the best AM anchor in the market--doing evenings.
I'm sure WBZ, WFXT, and WHDH pray they don't make a move.

I certainly wouldn't expect them to make any changes right away, and I'm happy for him where he is, but your considered analysis certainly bears some merit.

I wouldn't be surprised if in a year Randy is on the evening shift. But there's no way they would bring him into mornings for a couple weeks then move him to evenings after all the promotions.

Fluff, I agree on timetable you mentioned. Also agree it would be crazy to make the move NOW. Truth is--there's nothing WRONG with the set-up now. I just think we all know deep down what the ideal line-up there looks like.

Honestly, based on what I've seen and heard, I think Randy likes what he is doing and that is most likely the intention of the station for him to be in that time period. Afterall, mornings are the other big part of the day for local stations. Both timeslots are important.

You never know, but I'm sure none of us would claim to speak directly for Randy.
