A lot of radio people have been let go this year; let's make one list to keep track of them:
Tom Cuddy Bob McMahon Paul Perry John Lander Gil Santos
Any others I may have missed?

Gil Santos isn't being "let go". He is leaving, but under his own accord.

According to Scott Fybush's site, Paul Perry's contract was not renewed upon its expiration. That's very different from being "let go." Nevertheless, I thought Mr. Perry was great fun to listen to.

It would be nice if the Satellite radio folks set aside channels for big markets: 'The Boston Channel' or 'The Phoenix Channel' and they would be staffed and run by some of these local favorites. Is that at all realistic? XM could possibly get fence-sitters like me to sign up if I knew there was some 'homebrew' talent on a 'homebrew' station. Right now, satellite suffers from lack of local identity. This could be a win-win...for XM and for some of these displaced people talked about above.

-Mike Finnegan and June Knight from Oldies 103 -everyone from WBOS -Kim Collins from WROR (but now weekending at WZLX)
John Lander is rumored to be replacing Paul Perry at WROR.

7eng, you're right about the local broadcasts prohibited on Sat Radio. But Chris makes an excellent point: why could you not produce programming ON Sat FOR major markets (say Top 10?). Have 10 extra channels, each available NATIONALLY with programming specific to each of the top 10 markets. You could do "local" Tallk this way, right? I think it would fill a major void.
And let be serious (or "sirius")--many of those channels are dedicated to very small, niche audiences. Talk dedicated JUST for NY or JUST for BOS ---could fill a nice void.

Ok, it's about 8:35 p.m., and I'm driving. I press my radio's WODS (103.3) button. I don't like the song, so I press the WWBB (101.1, Providence) button. Same song! But WODS is about three seconds ahead. I figured it's a concidence. I do this for a few minutes and realize both stations are airing the exact same satellite feed. Pretty stupid, in my opinion. Yeah, they're considered different markets, but I get WWBB perfectly clear in Metrowest while nearby Worcester's WORC (98.9) signal is horrible. Makes the whole situation really sad.

It's syndicated programming. They've carried it for a while on WODS, did x-mas music now back to running Tom Kent's syndicated show.
If you think that's bad... Open House Party was on Kiss 108, PRO-FM, WERZ, WJBQ, WJYY, and Mix 94-1FM all at the same time... Try that for overlaping signals of syndication.

One could plausibly believe that both guys threatened discrimination lawsuits and 'got their jobs back' that way. In local TV news and radio, it's a common card to throw down. I wouldn't doubt it for a moment.

As of today (according to R&R), Greater Media has cut PD Dana Marshall from WBOS and Julie Devereaux and Albert O from WROR.
