Dick Albert is retiring from Channel 5... his last day will be Feb. 26. He'll be teaching, launching a website, and spending more time with family. Harvey, obviously, will take over the 5/6 forecasting. And it's now online: www.thebostonchannel.com/news/18640398/detail.html

Ummm, that should say the nickname for Richard... Max, I think the profanity filters are a bit too strict!

Fixed! As an amusing aside (and not our doing), the substitute for "bitch" was "pregnant dog"!
In all seriousness, though, it's a great shame to see Dickie picking up his pipe and slippers, but his health hasn't been the best in the last few years, and while I'm not totally sure how he's doing now, I'm sure it'll be great for him to have some time for himself.

Looking forward to seeing the details on the front page on this site. Dickie's been doing excellent, IMO. He is still up and running nightly on channel 5. And was at the top of his game during winter coverage during the big storms this winter. Best wishes Dick.

Dick Albert has been a stellar performer for many decades. I found Mr. Albert to be rather quirky at times, but always entertaining. I wish him the best in his retirement, and hope that this will set the stage for Mike Wankum to be WCVB's No. 1 weather broadcaster. Get my hint, Mr. Leonard? (And just think, if Bob Ryan hadn't left WCVB for his short, ill-fated stint as "Today" show meteorologist -- soon bumped in favor of Willard Scott -- we might now be bidding adieu to Mr. Ryan.)
And by the way, it is only once or twice a year that I see meteorologists talking about meteors. I think their profession of forcasting the weather has sadly been misnamed.

Dick signed off last night...Congratulations to him on an outstanding career! There aren't too many genuinely nice people like him out there... www.thebostonchannel.com/video/18805506/As a side note...one of this market's most distinguished figures signed off yesterday after 31 years, and this site is still running Randy Price on the front page. (Dick's retirement was never even mentioned on the front page) I think it only further proves the 7 bias around here...

Front page?
Maybe Max isn't on Dick Albert's Christmas card list like some others.

First of all, I apologize. It is an oversight that I shall correct in the next few hours. It was on the front page when it first was announced. However, I have been (and pretty much still am) laid low with the flu this week, plus I've been preparing to host my new week-in-review radio show on Sunday morning, which falls somewhere between Jon Stewart and Charlie Gibson, and which I'm not sure will actually make air unless I can speak without choking pretty soon!
