Since Doug left it seems like Cindy and AJ are doing the traffic after the weather segment. Sometimes Cindy does the weather and AJ the traffic, sometimes she does both. Seems like a devaluation of their abilities.
I never really understood why tv news does traffic. If you are watching tv then you probably are not driving. 'BZ radio can tell you where you are having traffic trouble every 10 minutes.

My Dad watches the traffic every AM on TV before he heads out.

I think having the traffic on am TV is just fine. I'd say the vast majority of people up at home in the am have plans to go somewhere.

I agree with Fox25rox with the am traffic, but the afternoon traffic I find pointless because people usually come from work, unless they have cable at work, i find it pointless

My bigger point is the fact that the weather department at 25 now seems responsible for the traffic reports too.. and that is what bothers me.

Bignate, if you were responsible for the station's budgets and profit margins, you might find that it would bother you considerably less. As for me, I care not who delivers the traffic, as long as the information is accurate and current. I'm really tired of the 'BZ radio "traffic on the threes" reports contstantly telling me about continuing backups that have long since dissipated.

It "bothers me" in the sense that a trained and talented meterologist is being asked to do more. Are they being paid extra?

I don't know if they are being paid more. But I do know that in this economic climate, they are fortunate to have jobs at all. The alternative to being asked to add traffic reporting could be being asked to clean out their desks when their contract term ends. This is the way it is in the real world; these people aren't special just because they are on TV.

Agreed. In light of all of the drastic budget cuts at Fox25, it is probably just a small imposition that really secondary information like traffic on tv would be saddled on someone else rather than dedicate a person to that.

It "bothers me" in the sense that a trained and talented meterologist is being asked to do more. Are they being paid extra? I'm a trained & talented software consultant. But if my boss asks me to do something that's not really part of my original job description, I do it. I'm thankful to be gainfully employed, and as long as I'm not being asked to clean the toilets, I'm pretty content doing what I'm asked to do. AJ Burnett & Melissa Mack shouldn't feel any differently.
