Anyone know why Kate Merrill has not been on the 9 PM TV38 news? She last appeared on June 7th, and since then either Jack Williams or Lisa Hughes has been doing the news, saying "Kate has the night off".

Could it be... oh, I don't know... THAT KATE HAS THE NIGHT OFF?! ;D
She's probably got a couple of weeks' accrued vacation time, but they're hardly likely, for example, to say: "Good evening, Kate Merrill is currently at the Hilltop Steakhouse in Saugus, where she is presently enjoying the buffalo chicken appetizer with a margarita, and coming up later during sports, she'll have the surf-and-turf!"
The fact that "she's got the night off" should be enough for us - it's not really our business to know anything else.

I plucked a well-known eating establishment at random - no idea if she's ever eaten there, but hopefully, you still understand my point.

I've spent seven years earning that right, and for the record, Kate has seen this and thinks it's very funny - she's back from vacation on Friday.

Indeed, Mr. BTVN, I do understand your point. Occasionally, however, someone hangs out a juicy plum of a line that begs for a semi-witty response. And I, having been called a half-wit on many an occasion, fill the bill perfectly. That said, I look forward to Mrs. Merrill's return to my TV.

Well, I finally got an answer from what I thought was a legitimate question. Looking forward to Ms. Merrill's return, thank you.
