I don't want to be one of those people who blow something out of proportion, but I find this situation rather odd so bear with me.
When Jonathan Elias is off you would expect Jack Williams to fill in, and if Jonathan is the one who's absent, Jack normally covers the 5pm. In an unusual situation when both are off, it's most likely going to be Ken MacLeod, or in a rare situation David Wade filling in.
However, strangely enough David was in for Jonathan tonight, but Jack was there to anchor the 6pm. Any ideas as to why they wouldn't just use Jack for both shows? I suppose there is a chance that Jack was simply unable to be there for the 5pm, but I don't know.
