I haven't heard anyone give a weather forecast for "Eastport (Maine) to Block Island" since Don left the airwaves.

The lasting legacy of Don Kent is undeniable. In that spirit, I'm pleased to announce BTVN's own special tribute to Boston television's first household name. Some of his friends, former colleagues, and well-known devotees have been kind enough to exclusively supply us with their thoughts, which you can read at: bostontvnews.weebly.com/a-btvn-all-star-tribute-don-kent.html. Our all-star line-up thus far includes: Tom Bergeron Pete Bouchard David Brown Jonathan Hall Harvey Leonard Randy Price Anyone who fits into the above categories and would like to have their thoughts included is welcome to e-mail me ( admin@btvn.net), use my profile here to send me a private message, or find me on Facebook (Max Preston - University of Leeds). On that subject, I'd like to invite you to share this special page with your friends, family and/or newsroom colleagues via networks like Facebook and Twitter. This has been by far the most ambitious project in BTVN's nine-year history, but also the most emotionally-enriching for me personally, and I want to thank everyone who got involved and who may yet do so. RIP Don - a man who clearly left a trail of highly-impressed people in his wake, like the most pleasant Nor'Easter Boston ever experienced.

Great tribute, Max. I also hope that others will choose to chime in with their thoughts.

I'm pleased to announce that WMUR's Josh Judge (who you may remember from his occasional stints on WHDH a few years back) has added his voice to our tribute. Josh was directly mentored by Don and spoke with him just a couple of weeks before his passing. I'm truly grateful that he felt able to contribute.

I had asked my friend A.J. Burnett to contribute to the special page, and while he was only too happy to do so, it turned out he'd already written a very compelling blog for Fox's own site. He very graciously offered to let me re-publish it on BTVN, but in order that no-one mistakenly think I had co-opted his remarks as "exclusive to BTVN" (which all the others are), I've decided just to post the link in order to avoid any confusion from you (our readers) or the management at Fox - so please don't think I have any less time for A.J.'s comments than anyone else's; I like and respect A.J. as a person and a broadcaster very much indeed. With that, please enjoy: community.myfoxboston.com/aj_burnett/blog/2010/03/02/my_childhood_idol_has_passed
