Local journalists have been sharing their own memories and thoughts on the life and career of journalism legend Walter Cronkite. WBZ NewsRadio's Dan Rea, NECN anchor RD Sahl, and BU journalism professor Bob Zelnick are interviewed for a story in today's Globe: www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2009/07/18/for_television_journalists_newsman_was_dedicated_to_craft_with_touch_of_humor/WBZ-TV anchor Jack Williams, on last night's 11pm newscast, noted how great he was to those in the business. "I had interviewed him one time; he looked at me and said, 'Jack, you know, I watch you and WBZ all the time when we're on the Vineyard,' of course, I nearly fainted and was in complete awe, but that's just the sort of guy he was." Current WBZ contributor John Henning, then an anchor at WNAC-Ch. 7, prepared a commentary for air on the day of Cronkite's last broadcast.
