Here's an article (http://thephoenix.com/BLOGS/dontquoteme/archive/2009/07/14/adios-wbcn.aspx).
In short, Mix 98.5 moves to 104.1 98.5 becomes WBZ-FM, "Sports Hub."
I would imagine there will be much tie-ins with WBZ-TV and NewsRadio, expanding the sports department. Could we see Bob Lobel return to radio?

WBZ just tweeted about this. I don't understand why there's such a big switch, why not put it on 104.1 and keep mix where it is? I read it quickly at first and got scared because I thought mix 98.5 was going away because its my favorite station (kiss 108 minus the rap/hip-hop crap, plus I love Karson & Kennedy).

Congrats, Fluff. on logging our 1,000th post. But I think Mix jock (and BTVN founder) Shawn Tempesta will be HIGHLY offended that you didn't mention him!

From what I gather, it's a signal issue thing. I also wonder if it has something to do with WBMX 98.5 being greater Boston's Emergency Alert primary facility. I'm not sure if that stays with the calls (WBMX) or the signal (98.5), but perhaps there are some efficiencies in having WBZ-AM (the state EAS facility) and WBZ-FM together. Any word on whether WBZ-FM is folded into 1170 Soldiers Field Road?
