Does anyone have any info on whether or not the Pops concert will be broadcast in HD this year? Last year it was not, but two years ago it was (to my understanding with rented equipment). I thought it was almost unwatchable last year and I hope CBS will step in and put money towards broadcasting in in HD (Since they pick up the last hour of it).

In any case, it will not be in HD this year. (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=16570286#post16570286).

CBS won't put down the extra money to have the 4th of July broadcast in HD, but the overdone Michael Jackson burial is in HD on every effin' network...

I've made it this far in life without HD. And I'm pretty sure I can make it the rest of the way. Worrying about what is -- and isn't -- in HD is silly. Did anyone here find 30 years of Johnny Carson "unwatchable" because it wasn't in HD? There's a lot of garbage that is in HD exclusively. One must remember: It's all about the content, not the delivery mechanism.

Well there's many people out there who disagree... I'm not sure if you've seen anything in HD before, but once you do you'll never want to go back.

But complaining about fireworks on TV in HD? Fireworks were meant to be watched outdoors, not tv. I think there are many other events that would be put ahead of this on the 'must be in HD' list.
I cannot see how anyone would enjoy the fireworks portion on television, but hey it's a free country.

Fluffer-- If this required CBS/WBZ renting out HD cams (I have no idea how much it costs, BTW) in this economy, and they're laying off people, perhaps it's the last thing they want to spend their money on. Regardless, I thought the show was great. Great job again this year, WBZ and CBS.

Just because I called you out for making a dumb, sweeping statement doesn't necessarily mean I live my life with anger. I wasn't picking on you, just criticized what you wrote which wasn't very bright. Shouldn't there be an IQ test to register for this group? Or at least an age limit?

It's comical for you to assume what you spew is considered intelligent. Read what you write my friend, it's littered with frustration, anger and rage. You can't hide it. I sincerely feel sorry for you, but thank you for your attempt at belittling me.
Please move on..........

I have suspended brightonboris until such time as she e-mails me a meaninggful apology to post here. We may not have a threshold for age or IQ but we do have one for civility.

I'm not sure if you've seen anything in HD before, but once you do you'll never want to go back. Well, sure, I watch some material on the four major networks in HD. Agreed, HD's visual superiority is incalculable. Switching between the Patriots in HD and baseball's American League playoffs on TNT in pitiful SD is startling, to say the least. Yep, HD is a far more enjoyable viewing experience. But, I don't need HD. Unlike food and oxygen, I can live without HD, and do so comfortably. Of course, there will come a day (perhaps 25 years from now) when broadcasts, cablecasts, and satcasts in SD forever cease. But it's possible I will have returned to dust and ashes by then.
