minutes into the DTV transition. I was watching Conan O'brien on my bedroom tv, and 7's digital signal went out at midnight. What's there problem? I rescanned and everything, the station disappeared from my channel list. Not pleased with this channel 7, we're all ready, why aren't you? All the other stations are doing fine.

Umm, i do have a new tv. It's less than a year old and it's and HD TV. Anyways, I fixed my signal, I had to re-aim my antenna, even though I'm one town a way from the transmitter.

Depends on your location, and antenna. Channel 7 went from channel 42 (UHF) to channel 7 (VHF) last night.
Make sure you have a VHF antenna (well, VHF/UHF would be best), and try to rescan again!
Edit: Good to see that your's is working now, it seems many people are having issues grabbing their signal from a distance.

They mentioned this on the news today (almost word for word what the article said) and I found it curious that they wouldn't have sorted this out before the transition.

It never went off the air, its just that some people (I'm guessing far away from Boston) cannot receive the signal because the power the FCC is allowing them to use is not high enough. So they are broadcasting on both 7 and 42 because they have more power on channel 42.

fjallfoss.fcc.gov/prod/ecfs/retrieve.cgi?native_or_pdf=pdf&id_document=7019808615Looks like WHDH is giving up on the hassle of transmitting on digital channel 7. The above is a link prepared by 7's attorney to ask the FCC to allow WHDH to have its permanent DTV signal on 42. Now lets have more confusion begin... when they shut off their transmitter WHDH will have to make sure the people in the area that can actually receive the channel 7 signal (myself included) will have to rescan their converter boxes/TVs Interestingly, my bedroom HDTV in my bedroom receives two channels labeled 7-1 and two labeled 7-2 because I get the 42 and 7 signal.

that would be correct - there are some dead areas in mass - Douglas for example seems to be one of them. It appears that even with a DTV box (paid for with tax money & some of my own) you could need an Outdoor Antenna with a booster. Even then there is no guarantee according to the FTC weenies. What is even more disturbing is that the DTV Box people claim one thing (i.e. no reception) while the FTC people claim another and both claim to be reading from the same information!
Unfortunately, the one TV that was in the "man cave" is no longer working and it was the go to one when Cable goes out. No more - not to mention that I wasted some $49.95 for the DTV converters.

And if you have Comcast, more machinations to come if you use cable ready tv without a cable box. You will need a mini-box soon to get service. But they will give you two of them free.
