Would anyone be willing to back me up on this? I just can't watch 7 anymore since Randy left. I don't think I'm sexist, I just can't take any of the anchors seriously. The only one who seems to have confidence on the chair is Frances Rivera, and second to that would be.... can't believe I'm saying this... Matt Lorch. All of the rest of the anchors, including Kim Khaezi and Christa Del Camp (both of whom I used to enjoy watching) seem tired, speak very awkwardly and seem confused and not on the ball. Ditto for Allred, Williams and Banerjee. Ever since Randy left I simply have not wanted to watch 7. I didn't think I'd miss him that much. Maybe he added some kind of subconscious level of professionalism that I don't see on 7 News anymore. By comparison, Fox 25 has Maria Stephanos, who is handsdown the best female anchor in Boston, and Mark Ockerbloom who has been around the broadcasting block more than a few times. And some would argue Ock's fill ins, Frank Mallicoat and Bob Ward, are better and more experienced than him. The anchors on Fox don't look like kids just out of college, like they do on 7. They are much easier to watch, in my opinion.

Sorry, I must respectufully disagree.
You say that Maria Stephanos is "handsdown the best female anchor in Boston." I think she's the worst. Valley girl accent and delivery. Junior high-school diction. Has a need to speak VERY LOUDLY all the time. Yes, I'm aware that many people think she's excellent. I am not one of them. When Karen Marinella signed off from 10 o'clock, so did I. But there are problems at 11 o'clock, too, starting with the sad decline of Jack Williams into guffaws and embarrassing comments after every story.

dotcom, I respect your opinion. But my main point was that I can't watch 7 anymore. I just think the anchors look like they don't know what they're doing, especially since Randy Price left. Would anyone agree with me?

"The chicks at 6" don't do it for me either, Ansin. Maria, I agree with the valley girl comment whole heartedly. Karen was great although that newscast sucked. Why sucked? It lacked a slick presentation, (not lazers and sfx,) just the tempo at times put me to sleep. Jack Williams is just keeping the chair warm waiting for corporate to call, i think

Jack Williams is just keeping the chair warm waiting for corporate to call, i think I would argue that Williams is the biggest TV star in the market right now. He is the WBZ franchise.

He is - but as we know, 'BZ management is not at home to screwing with the product, even if it's working pretty well. Let's hope this current regime stays sensible.

As soon as Williams retires or semi-retires (again) the 11 p.m. ratings will start to go down. Hopefully CBS can keep good lead ins

I think Maria is over-rated and comes across insincere, though I admit she carries that newscast. Kim Khaezi is growing on me. She seems a lot more comfortabe now--didn't like her at first. Lorch is tolerable--which is a HUGE improvement. And I just think Rivera is weak. With 7, for me, the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. Maybe thats production values. But there's something REALLY missing without Randy.

You have every right to your opinion, and "comes across" is definitely the appropriate phrasing, but I can tell you that she is a very sincere and caring person in life. Just thought I'd throw that in there, because I've known her for quite a long time and can attest to it.

Sorry, but what happens or comes across on the tube for the mass audience is "WHO she IS".

I certainly don't contest that, but thankfully (for her reputation) I believe you're in the minority as far as audience perception goes. I also know you're probably just busting my proverbials!

It seems to me that the local news on channels 7 and 25 go hand in hand. If a viewer likes the content and style of channel 7's news, they ought to find WFXT appealing, too.

I like watching Fox 25's news. I can't stand 7 News. The two female anchor team is a total turn-off for me. The new set is horrible. At least Randy Price gave them some credibility.

I stopped watching 7 news long before Randy left. It's a "Mickey Mouse" operation. I would like to see Victoria Block migrate to another Boston station.

I couldn't disagree more with BTVN Administrator that rogertv is in the minority with regards to believing that Maria is a valley girl. I know so many people that don't watch Fox25 because of her. They will watch it in the morning but don't like her in the evening. Most of them watched because of David Wade. Now there seems to be a dip in the ratings.
