An interesting suggestion on bostonradio.org (lists.bostonradio.org/pipermail/boston-radio-interest/2009-February/019693.html) that Ansin intends to produce the Boston newscasts in Miami; which would explain the layoffs (and more expected in the coming weeks).

Think it's a crazy idea? Not really. It's being done across the country. Here's info on the Salt Lake City/West Palm Beach newscast (www.palmbeachpost.com/tv/content/accent/epaper/2009/01/25/a1d_tvnews_0126.html). Basically, there's a staff of one-man-band journalists in West Palm, while equipment, anchors, producers, etc. are in Utah.

How difficult would it be to stick an addition anchor desk at the Miami Newsplex?

I don't think that paradigm would work in a media-savvy Top-10 city like Boston, especially when none of the other channels would follow suit. Might as well shut the whole operation down.

I'm not even sure how they would try to produce a Boston newscast with Boston stories and video, out of Miami. I'd even go so far as to say it's 98 percent unlikely this will happen. I leave a 2 percent chance because anything is possible with Darth Ansin.

If it did happen, I think Boston viewers would think it was "retahded."
