There are big changes coming to NBC with Jay Leno moving to 10:00. Right in the middle you are going to have a newscast that will have to keep people until Conan O'Brien comes on. If channel 7 keeps a news cast at 11:00 it must be something to keep the viewer. Not a traditional newscast. Something hosted by Anne and Adam at 11 and 5-7 AM similar to what WCVB did with Ed Harding.
Another possibility is to complete due away with an 11:00 News and put something in its place. Something hosted by Sorbonni or Brandon Rudat.

Brandon Rudat's gone as of last night as well apparently, but I've not been able to confirm that yet, as I've had other priorities.

Why would they fire Brandon as well?

I don't know if/whether they fired him, just that he left. The Randy interview will be up momentarily.

Brandon Rudat's gone as of last night as well apparently, but I've not been able to confirm that yet, as I've had other priorities. They had major cuts in the make-up budget. Max, good interview. If I could ask one favor, please can that intro/exit music? It really cheapens the overall product. Thanks for your extensive, non-stop, tireless never ending work to keep us informed of the latest local news. It is very much appreciated.

Your point is duly noted, but it would take me hours to re-do at this point, so for the moment, I'm sorry, but I can't.
By the way, the Rudat thing still hasn't officially happened (I'm now hearing), but may apparently be in the works. I CAN confirm, however, that Lauren Przybyl is STAYING.

Where is Brandon going? i.e. another Boston news station or elsewhere?

I can now confirm that the move was made by mutual consent. From a legal standpoint that is what it is with "contracts" in play. Randy joins a host of others including Todd Gross (who I am happy to report is having fun with his gig in Utah, albeit flying back & forth gives new meaning to Jet Set Meteorologists). Randy was spot on with regards to the news of late on 7. Who cares about a freakin alligator on the loose in FL amongs many other things. The "forced" banter on the morning news.... It taks some getting to use to a Fox 25 in the morning news. After listening to it - there was real "no mutual agreement" when the sun sets.

Max, good job with Randy's interview. If I understand him, he can't work in the businesss until his contract is up - 2012? Correct? Thanks

No, that's not right. When a station decides to terminate someone, there's often what's called a non-compete clause in their contract, which states that they cannot work for a station IN THE SAME MARKET for a certain period of time (theoretically I suppose he could go to another market right away, but he's been fairly emphatic about not wanting to do so), so then the only part of the contract that matters is this particular window (the three-year part becomes redundant), so in Randy's case, he could be back on-air by June-ish once the non-compete window expires..

I thought non-compete clauses were illegal in Mass.?
