I forgot to mention the irony of how Max is the literal five star general, while the rest of us are mere one/two star infantry people. Military folks know better than to question authority......

This thread has gone just a tad off course....
And while we're off course, who the heck is giving me bad karma? I have offered nothing but relevant, positive conjecture within this forum.
This seems to be a option that is easily abused by some that are less than mature.

what some people dont seem to understand that yes, in America, we have freedom of speech, but when you sign up to post on the internet, it is the webmaster who has control and can tell you what to say and not say. When you agree to the terms of this site you agree to be civil and not bad-mouth people. Those are the rules that have been put in place and there are consequences if you break them.

Andy, thank you.
I don't control the star ratings or the "karma". And please don't be so condescending as to lecture me on "how we do things in America" as if I don't know. That's just insulting. We've been playing by my rules for eight years and we're all still here - nobody died.

Nothing wrong with a suspension in my book. Most blogs devolve to such a low level of exchange that it becomes pretty hard to see most of that spew as something we should protect as freedom of speech. Members certainly have the right to say anything they want to say, but if you are trying to run an intelligent forum, you don't have the obligation to force everyone else to read that meaningless and purely hateful nonsense.

You are right Max, nobody died and you are still around. It seems as if there are only half the members that there used to be though. I recall the old site having an announcement of 1,000 members. Food for thought.

Mr medvegas: You seem to be too late; this site has already imploded. It now gets barely a handful of posts in a week. Ho hum.

We've had around 50 posts this week. It took us nearly seven years to get to 1,000 members before the relaunch when we started from scratch. Yes, we have half us many members as we used to, but the two don't bear comparison; we've gotten to nearly 500 members in just nine months.
From this point on, I feel no need to defend myself to you.

Max you MUST defend BTVN until the end! I'm sensing a bit of quit in you, something I've never seen before. This is YOUR baby now and you must lead us into the 21st century.

I'll say this about "membership" and the number of posts. It probably has more to do with the industry in these current times than anything else. The interest in such is simply not as vigorous at this point in the game. But more importantly, the quality of the conversation here has always been a notch above what you might see at other industry websites. If all that mudslinging is what some call our right under "freedom of speech", it's not much of a right. Just trash talk.

No "quit", just less of a willingness to indulge BS. The title of "moderator" implies a responsibility to keep the conversation... moderate!

Thank you Max for doing away with the "Karma", it was quite apparent some were abusing it.
