Is Kim Khazei.
How is your main anchor NOT there for a story so big every station in town has literally spent nearly TWO YEARS preparing to cover it?
I know of several other anchors who cancelled their vacations to come in. It's expected when you get the big bucks.
Obviously, if there's some kind of family crisis, that's one thing. But otherwise...

And now I'm told she's on an African safari. Wow.

Well, it makes literally no sense to have anchors that young, and who have been in the area for such little time, trying in vain to sound credible when speaking about the man. Nice people, I'm sure - competent broadcasters, certainly, but lacking overall in the necessary perspective.

As of this posting, they are airing network children's programming; WBZ and WCVB remain on-air. Perhaps WHDH doesn't know that the mandated three-hours of children's programming may be pre-empted (and not rescheduled) for breaking news.

Maybe WHDH reads this forum and didnt have the aged quailified people, so they went national.

This was WHDHs worst week competitively in several years.

Brokaw flew to Boston from Montana. No reason a local alleged anchor couldn't do it.

Even if she was there I would not have watched. 4 and 5 did a MUCH better job and had credibility behind their anchors/reporters. I agree, 7 was certainly not "the one to watch" or where "more new englanders" got their news last week...

4 didn't do themselves any favors by cutting away to a meaningless NFL preseason game between SD and Atlanta right as Kennedy's casket was placed over the burial spot.
I realize they switched over to 38 - but its the football game that should have moved. If I was a viewer and missed that heads up, I'd be outraged.

WBZ had to air the football game, it was a national broadcast of the game by CBS, and WBZ is owned my CBS, i'm pretty sure their hands were tied on this on, just be glad that they have a sister station, otherwise they probably would not have continued to cover the service

Affiliates are allowed to pre-empt, both a set number of "scheduled" times per year (like when a station airs the St. Jude's Telethon), and when breaking news happens. Green Line Crash ring a bell? I would think the death of Senator Kennedy meets that criteria. Their coverage should have remained on the mothership. It's not a Patriots game we're talking about.
