Primetime Update

I know this has probably been going on for a month or so, but has anyone else noticed the primetime news update channel 5 has been doing following Chronicle? I think it's a great idea. Right before 8:00 people are tuning in before prime time and they can try to bring more people in to watch their 11:00, since they preview it at the end of the newscast.

I actually think it's great they go over the most important local headlines, followed by a commercial and then the important parts of the weather forecast.

Perhaps it's indicative of some sales technique in selling only one :30 ad at a higher rate rather than a block of four.

It would be nice for the stations to return to the hourly news updates. Anybody remember WBZ's "24 Hour Eyewitness News Watch?"

Vaguely. I agree. The hourly updates would be a great feature to bring back to local news.
