I was less then impressed when it took FOREVER for BZ to carry the feed from NYC. THEN.. I was treated to great graphics from WCBS in NY, proving once again that I HATE the graphics on WBZ... and actually affects my viewing habits... Once WBZ came on with local coverage and dropped CBS 2's gfx.. I changed the channel quickly.
I mean WBZ's gfx they actually BOTHER me.

If you don't like BZ then don't watch it!

Usually I do watch BZ more often than the others. Though I do agree Roger, their presentation is far from eye catching. Esepcially for those with an HD set-up.
In my case, when WBZ dropped WCBS I ended up picking up CBS 2's stream online. Watching live reports from reporters on scene beats watching the same pictures in loop, and hearing the anchors say the same thing over and over again.

As a media junkie, I scan all the affilliates and compare coverage as well as presentation.
And I do not make WBZ appointment television.
(Except when David Wade taught us all how to ride a bike thru the city) ...riviting.

(Except when David Wade taught us all how to ride a bike thru the city) ...riviting. As a protest to local TV news and how they run their businesses, I've abandoned it entirely. It's now embarrassing TV rather than must-see TV. But, Wade actually DID this? (shaking my head sadly at the devolution of an industry; problem is, everyone seems to know it but the ones on the inside.)

For some reason, I've never been able to warm up to David Wade. And don't watch WBZ when he is on.

For some reason, I've never been able to warm up to David Wade. And don't watch WBZ when he is on. I don't watch WBZ at all, but for a different reason. That goofy David Robichaud is enough to get me searching for a commercial instead. In all honesty, every Boston morning show has its goofy, irritating personalities and Robichaud is WBZ's poster boy in that department. Generally speaking and across the board, the women are lovely to look at and listen to. The men are all just varying degrees of irritating and annoying. Today, for example, 'helicopter boy' on Fox 25 has a little game he plays with viewers called 'Guess Where We Are.' So he points the camera to a wind turbine (the kind Ted Kennedy doesn't want to have to look at) and that's all you see. The viewer is supposed to 'guess' where it is. So 'helicopter boy' waits a few moments before getting the camera to pull back, exposing a big school that the wind turbine is probably powering (big surprise there). Then, as only someone stupid could say, he tells the viewer that the wind turbine 'Has just been constructed this week.' DUH! How the hell is someone supposed to 'guess where we are' with something brand new?? That rodeo clown's resume must look marvelous: " I look out helicopter windows and tell people what I see."

I find WBZ's morning news very awkward at times. Particularly the segments with Robichaud. Unlike the previous poster, I don't mind him personally. The current format however doesn't work for me.
It seems that they're teetering between doing morning news and a morning show. I fail to see the value of reading a story and then either Paula or David offering up an opinion as devil's advocate. Every time we have the misfortune of hearing them preface their point with "Well, and some would argue that ______." That is not enticing television.
Personally I don't find any of the local news programs to be very good at the moment anyway. If it's past 6am and I'm not looking for weather I'll usually check out Morning Joe.

5 seems to be the only station intent on giving actual news throughout the morning newscast. 4's morning show disappoints me because I find their evening news to be rather accurate, but I agree that the AM show needs to decide whether its a talk show or a newscast.
